Malignant mesothelioma compensation - Telecommunications
Mr P died in 2006 aged 69 as a result of malignant mesothelioma. We are acting for his widow.
Mr P worked for British Telecom between 1961 and 1989. In the 1970s his job involved the testing of plant ventilation above the cable racks on the apse floor. Whenever the cables passed through the floor asbestos was used as a fire stop. The same fire stop procedure was also used in the service ducts around the pipes and power rises. Mr P was involved in testing and maintenance on a regular basis.
He began to feel unwell in Summer 2005. In the autumn a chest x-ray was carried out and after a biopsy the diagnosis of mesothelioma was confirmed. Mr P died in May 2006.
Mr P enjoyed working on his house and was very DIY orientated. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and encouraging them with their school projects.
Mrs P confirms “my family and I miss him a great deal and I do not really know how I will face the future without him.”
We are now in the process of issuing Court proceedings and we anticipate the industrial disease claim will be concluded shortly.
