Mesothelioma claim - £145k in compensation for top burner's widow
Boyes Turner’s industrial disease lawyers secured £145k in compensation for the widow of a man who sadly passed away following his diagnosis of mesothelioma.
He was employed by George Cohen Sons & Company Limited, amongst other companies, as a top burner. He worked for this company on a number of occasions between 1957 and 1975.
As a top burner, he regularly had to cut through asbestos roofs and the metal work supporting the roofs which were often sprayed with asbestos. He frequently had to cut asbestos sheets with a hacksaw and he chipped off sprayed asbestos coating from metal work. He was also responsible for removing asbestos lagged pipework and boilers and prior to this he removed the asbestos using a hammer, or whatever tool was to hand.
Sadly he passed away during the course of the claim which was taken over by his widow.
