Hoddesdon power station carpenter dies of mesothelioma
Mr W died aged 86 from mesothelioma. He had worked at a generating station in Hoddesdon as a maintenance carpenter between 1955 and 1981. Mr W was regularly exposed to both white and blue asbestos while removing asbestos boarding and working with asbestos lagging. He was not issued with protective breathing apparatus.
The coroner Mr Armstrong recorded a verdict of death by the industrial disease mesothelioma caused by exposure to asbestos during his working life.
