For the past four years Boyes Turner has held a free annual Mesothelioma and Lung Cancer Study Day at our offices at Abbots House, Abbey Street in Reading.
We extend an open invitation to all those involved in the fields of mesothelioma and lung cancer to attend our study days which are accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of Nursing.
We have been very fortunate to enjoy some excellent presentations in the past, including Professor Loic Lang-Lazdunski, a Professor in thoracic surgery, who discussed the current research and trials in mesothelioma. We have also had Dr Peter Szlosarek, a Clinical Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in medical oncology, discussing oncology research in mesothelioma and the recent Adam trial results. In 2014 Eric Lim, a Consultant Thoracic Surgeon, was able to bring us up-to-date with the current mesothelioma clinical trials including MARS II. Consultant Lung Cancer Nurses, Anne Moylan and Naomi Horne, both of whom work on behalf of the charity Mesothelioma UK, also attended to discuss the role of the lung cancer nurse and Mesothelioma UK.
In 2015 we welcomed Professor Nick Maskell, Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the University of Bristol, Amy Kerr, a Senior Thoracic Research Nurse, and Salma Kadiri, a Research Practitioner with Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust. We also had Dr Maeve McKeogh, Consultant in Pain Management, and her Registrar, Dr Olivia Bush from the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading plus Dr Susi Lund, Nurse Consultant for Palliative and End of Life Care, and Sonia Hayes, Assistant Coroner for London South.
